Stuart
CEO AKA MR FILING FORTRESS
Writing a bio shouldn’t feel like a nightmare; instead, think of it as the perfect excuse to brag about your accomplishments. For Stuart, however, he prefers to keep things humble, often reminding anyone who asks that “you’re only ever as good as your last job.” If you’re looking for a list of his professional awards and accolades, you’ll find them tucked away on his LinkedIn profile.
When he isn’t busy focusing on his true passion—helping customers navigate the complexities of moving or securing the right storage solutions for their businesses—Stuart is likely deep in conversation about his two favourite subjects: cars and dogs. Ultimately, though, his greatest joy is found away from the office, where he loves spending quality time with Jo and his two boys, Eddie and Fletch.
Jo
MRS FILING FORTRESS
Jo—or Joanne as she is known when Stuart is attempting to put on his best “posh” voice for a new client—is truly the heartbeat of the operation. Far more than just a listening ear, she is celebrated locally as the undisputed master of hot drinks, providing the warmth and comfort that keeps the business running.
You’ll find her either tucked away in the office or darting through the warehouse in her signature pink gloves, balancing the demands of the business with a genuine interest in her customers’ lives—she’s the one who actually remembers the names of their children and pets.
When she isn’t painstakingly correcting Stuart’s frequent spelling errors and mangled grammar, she’s happily debating the plot twists of Downton Abbey or who’s paired with who on Strictly with anyone who will listen. Just be warned: whatever you do, steer clear of the subject of cars, as Jo already hears more than enough from Stuart’s car ramblings to last a lifetime.
Lord Mac
DADDY filing fortress
Mac is a local legend who has made more comebacks than Frank Sinatra, and at well into his 80s, it is clear he has absolutely no intention of retiring.
He thrives on the daily ritual of sipping a cappuccino while engaging in lively conversation with customers, who are always captivated by his colourful tales of victories and defeats on the bowling green.
Despite the constant worrying of his son Stuart, who frequently finds him perched precariously at the top of a ladder in the warehouse and insists that he should be slowing down, Mac remains unstoppable. He keeps everyone on their toes, proving that age is merely a number when you have as much spirit and personality as he does.
Lady Beryl
MOTHER FILING FORTRESS
If being Stuart’s mum wasn’t hard enough, Beryl—or Bubble as she’s affectionately known—makes sure there are clean towels in the toilet and washes the tea towels.
Her current contract states payment in tea and ‘cakey’, as she calls it.
Bubble needs to be taken out for an airing to Beccles or Felixstowe at least once a week on Mac’s days off.
Eddie Littlelegs
Chief financial officer*
Eddie, the short haired standard dachshund, claims the title of Finance Director but never actually turns up to work.
Spends most of his day collecting sticks or competing with Fletcher for space on Jo’s lap.
Don’t stroke him if he’s in the office as you’re likely to be there all day.
Fletcher
FORKLIFT DRIVER*
Fletcher—or as Beryl calls him, Dave or Spike—the laid-back, part-time forklift driver—when he’s not jumping out of the seat.
He can usually be found laying in a sunny spot or invading a customer’s personal space by sitting on their lap.
